What Geo Heist is

Geo Heist is a free location-guessing game for GTA V that runs in your browser. Every round is a panorama captured inside the game world, from downtown Los Santos to the forests below Mount Chiliad. There is nothing to install, and you can start as a guest.

The map is the GTA V mainland, split into three regions: Los Santos, Countryside and Mountains. The server picks each location, runs the clock and calculates your score, so every player in a match faces the same rules.

A round, step by step

Each round loads behind a preparation screen, then a shared three-second countdown starts. Loading and the countdown do not use your guessing time. In multiplayer, the game waits for every required player, for up to 20 seconds.

Once the clock starts, every mode follows the same basic steps, although some lock walking, turning or zoom.

• Look around: drag the view to turn, and zoom in on signs or distant landmarks.
• Move if the mode allows it: click an arrow on the road, or double-click the road, to walk. Back to start returns you to where the round began.
• Open the map, find the spot and click to place your pin. You can move it until you submit.
• Submit before the clock runs out. If time expires, your latest saved pin is scored automatically. With no pin, the round scores zero.
• Read the result, with the distance and points breakdown, then continue.
• Use SPACE as a shortcut for the main action. With a pin placed it submits your guess, and on the result screen it moves on. Without a pin it opens or closes the map panel instead of guessing. It never interferes while you type, and in multiplayer it follows the shared schedule.

Controls

The same controls work in every mode, although some modes lock walking, turning or zoom.

• Drag with the mouse or a finger: look around.
• Arrow keys: turn the camera. Hold Shift for bigger steps.
• Mouse wheel, pinch, or the plus and minus keys: zoom in and out.
• Click a road arrow or double-click the road: walk to the next connected spot.
• Back to start: return to the spawn point.
• Click the map: place or move your pin.
• SPACE: submit, continue, or toggle the map when no pin is placed.

How scoring works

Accuracy is worth up to 5,000 points and falls smoothly with distance. The formula is 5,000 × exp(-(d / 2,200)^1.6), where d is the distance in meters between your pin and the true location. A near-perfect pin earns almost everything, and points drop fastest over the first few kilometers.

Supported official modes add a speed bonus of up to 10% of your accuracy points for earlier manual guesses. The bonus shrinks in a straight line as the clock runs down, so a 500 m pin submitted halfway through the round scores 4,782 in total. Answers settled automatically at the deadline get no bonus.

Custom games can switch on a travel deduction, which multiplies your points by exp(-distance walked / 5,000 m). Walking 1 km keeps about 82% of your score. Only the final total is rounded. Speedrun, Duel, Survival, HotStreak and PopZone add their own rules, explained on each mode page. Accuracy alone, rounded to the nearest point, works out like this:

• 100 m off: 4,965 points
• 500 m off: 4,554 points
• 1 km off: 3,767 points
• 2 km off: 2,119 points
• 5 km off: 121 points

Reading GTA V scenery

Good players read a scene in layers, from the biggest clue to the smallest. When you are unsure, place the pin in the middle of the most likely area, because the distance curve rewards a safe central guess over a bold one on the wrong side of the map. Work through these clues in order:

• Skyline and horizon: the downtown towers, Mount Chiliad, the ocean or the Alamo Sea give you a bearing before anything else.
• Road signs and markings: freeway signs name routes and exits, street name signs sit at intersections, and a wide divided road narrows the options to a handful of highways.
• Vegetation: palms point to the city and coast, pines to the north, cacti and scrub to the desert, and crop rows to the farmland around Grapeseed.
• Terrain: flat ground with a grid of blocks is urban. Winding roads and steep drops mean hills or mountains.
• Water and coast: cliffs and surf point to the west or north coast, calm lake water to the Alamo Sea, and concrete channels to the Los Santos River.
• Architecture: glass towers, beach stucco, trailers, barns and wooden cabins each belong to only a few areas.
• Vehicles and people: treat them as noise. Traffic and pedestrians were captured at one moment and say little about the place.

Accounts and leaderboards

You can play straight away as a guest, solo or with friends. Signing in with Discord keeps your match history across devices and gives you a private profile. The guest games you already played are claimed by your account when you sign in, so your earlier results are not lost.

Weekly leaderboards rank each official mode separately over a rolling seven-day window. Only completed runs of the exact official solo preset, with all three regions enabled, are ranked. Each player keeps one best run per board, and the board shows the top 50. Custom games and multiplayer matches stay in your history instead.
