The GTA V map
Map regions
Geo Heist plays on the GTA V mainland, divided into three regions: Los Santos, Countryside and Mountains. Every location belongs to exactly one of them, and all three are switched on by default.

The three regions
Los Santos covers the named urban zones of the city, from the beaches and downtown to the port and the airport, plus a few outlying zones such as the Palmer-Taylor Power Station. Mountains covers seven named footprints: Mount Chiliad, Mount Gordo, Mount Josiah, the Vinewood Hills, the Tataviam Mountains, the Tongva Hills and the Calafia Bridge. Countryside is everything else on the mainland, including the desert, farmland, forests and most of the coast.
Mountain footprints take priority, then the city zones, then countryside. That is why the Vinewood sign and the Galileo Observatory count as Mountains even though they overlook the city. Cayo Perico and North Yankton are not part of the game.
Using the region filter
In setup, open Customize and choose your starting regions. At least one must stay selected. The filter decides where rounds start and where targets come from. It never adds invisible walls, so you can still walk across a region border during a round.
Restricting regions makes the game Custom. It stays in your history, but only runs with all three regions count toward the weekly board. Public queues always use every region.
