Duel: two players, one location, 6,000 HP

Duel is the head-to-head mode. Each round, 2 players see the same GTA V location, the worse guess loses health, and damage grows as the match goes on. It suits competitive players who want a 1v1 GTA GeoGuessr-style match rather than a solo score chase.

How a Duel works

Both players start with 6,000 health. A Duel lasts up to 10 rounds of 45 seconds, with normal walking, looking and zoom. After each round the player with the lower score loses health equal to the difference between the 2 scores, multiplied by that round's damage multiplier.

The multiplier is ×1 in rounds 1–3, ×2 in rounds 4–6, ×3 in rounds 7–9 and ×4 in round 10. Reaching 0 health ends the match early. For example, a 1,200-point gap in round 8 costs the loser 3,600 health, more than half of a full bar.

Round scores and the final verdict

Each round is scored normally, with up to 5,000 accuracy points and a speed bonus of up to 10% for a quicker manual guess. The bonus matters more here than in solo play, because it widens the gap your opponent has to absorb. A missing answer scores 0, which gets very expensive late in the match.

If both players still have health after round 10, the one with more health wins. Equal health falls back to the higher cumulative score, then to better accuracy, and only an exact tie on all of these is a draw. Duels appear in your match history, but Duel has no weekly leaderboard.

Public queue and invites

Duel is played by invite or through the public queue. The queue is first in, first out, uses fixed official settings with all regions, and has no public rating. When an opponent is found you both get an offer that lasts 15 seconds, and the match forms once both players accept.

Guests and account holders share the same queue, and you can hold only one public ticket or match at a time. If your connection drops, you have 60 seconds to return while the clocks keep running; leaving forfeits. An invite lobby uses the official Duel rules; the host can only narrow the regions.

Duel tips

  1. Protect against big losses late. In round 10 every point of difference is multiplied by 4, so a safe pin in the right district often beats a risky exact guess.

  2. Take the early rounds seriously too. A health lead built at ×1 gives you room to play safe when the multipliers climb.

  3. Use the speed bonus. When you recognize a place instantly, pin it; the extra 10% can decide a close round.

  4. Never let the clock run out. A 0 against a 4,000-point guess in round 10 is 16,000 damage, enough to end any match.

  5. Know the whole map, not just the city. Public Duels use all 3 regions, so Blaine County farmland, desert and mountain roads come up regularly.
