Hot / Cold: let the heat guide your pin
Hot / Cold turns every GTA V location into a guided search. You get 5 checks per round, and each one tells you how far off you were. It is the friendliest way to learn the map, and a sharp test of triangulation for experienced players of this GTA GeoGuessr-style game.

How the heat checks work
A game has 5 rounds of 90 seconds, with the usual walking, looking and zoom controls. Instead of one pin, you drop a pin and run a heat check. The game prints your exact distance from the target beside a tier: Freezing, Cold, Warm, Hot or Burning, with more flames as you get closer.
You have 5 attempts. Each heat check uses one, and so does locking in your guess, which you can do at any time. If you use all 5 on checks, the fifth locks in automatically. If time runs out, your latest saved pin settles automatically, so keep it on your best estimate as you search.
Scoring in Hot / Cold
Only the pin you lock in is scored, on the same curve as Classic: up to 5,000 points, falling with distance by 5000 × exp(-(d/2200)^1.6). Checks cost only time and attempts, so a bold first probe on the far side of the map is not a mistake. It is information you paid for.
The official preset keeps the speed bonus, worth up to 10% of your accuracy for an earlier manual answer. The heat tiers are set by the game rules on the server and are deliberately coarse, while the distance printed next to them is exact. Plan with the number and treat the word as a mood.
Solo and party Hot / Cold
Hot / Cold is available solo and in an invite party. Official solo runs on all regions go on the weekly leaderboard. A Custom solo game can also remove the time limit entirely, which makes a relaxed practice session, although untimed Hot / Cold always stays Custom and never ranks.
In a party, each player gets their own heat readings on the same location, so nobody can ride on someone else's progress. It works well for groups with mixed experience: newer players can lean on all 5 checks, while veterans try to lock in sooner and keep more of the speed bonus.
Hot / Cold tips
Treat your first check as a survey. Pin the middle of the area you suspect, then use the distance to rule out whole parts of the map before trying to be precise.
Think in rings. A reading of 3 km means the target sits somewhere on a circle around your pin, so your next check belongs on that circle, not beside the first pin.
Check from 2 different directions. Where the 2 distance rings cross there are usually only 1 or 2 candidate spots left.
Keep reading the panorama between checks. If the rings allow both a beach and a hillside, the scene settles it in seconds.
Keep an attempt in reserve for the pin you believe in. Only the locked-in pin is scored, and a fifth check locks in wherever it lands.
